C.C. SABATHIA TO HOST SLUGGER SLEEPOVER FOR 300 DESERVING CLEVELAND YOUNGSTERS

Presented by PitCCh In™ and Legacy Sports Group

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CLEVELAND, OH (April 14, 2008) -- Cleveland Indians starting pitcher, C.C. Sabathia, will host Cleveland’s ultimate sleepover party, “C.C.’s Slugger Sleepover” on Saturday, April 26th for 300 of Cleveland area’s most deserving 5th-12th graders. Sponsored by PitCCh In™ and Legacy Sports Group, the event will be held at Freeway Lanes in Parma, Ohio.

“When I was a teenager I remember sleepovers as the time to do some silly crazy stuff but also really get to know my friends and talk about what was going on in our lives,” said Sabathia. “That’s what we’re going to do at my sleepover – a little bowling, some karaoke, some dancing – but also spending some time talking about what’s really going on out there in the streets and positive ways to deal with it.”

Sabathia has invited several of his fellow teammates along with players and cheerleaders from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Browns to assist him by sharing some of their own personal experiences and participate in the activities. Over 300 kids have been selected from various local youth organizations such as the Berea Home, Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

“I want to thank all our sponsors, Legacy Sports Group, Direct Energy, Nike, Vitamin Water, Smart Water, Embroid Me, Freeway Lanes-Parma, and my own foundation, PitCCh In, for helping us put on this first time event, said Sabathia. “Kids going through their teenage years need to hear from us who’ve gone through it, and know that there are positive ways to handle what life throws at you.”
